The Life Science Centre provides A-Level and GCSE courses on a residential and single day basis. Courses are designed and delivered by scientists in an industrial standard laboratory using state of the art equipment, allowing students to experience what it’s like to work as a real scientist.
Students work in teams, completing practical workplace-linked science projects, such as identifying a genetically modified bacteria able to produce Insulin for diabetic patients. Offering context driven insight helps to generate an enthusiasm for science.
Science is combined with adventurous outdoor activities to promote enjoyment in learning, problem solving, effective communication and team working - essential for those wishing to pursue a career in science
Courses cover aspects of individual specification requirements to aid qualification delivery, reinforce the Every Child Matters agenda and demonstrate How Science Works
